Artist's Bio

AiNa (TuRiaga) Kinnaman is a self-taught artist based in Delaware Ohio. She came to the US with her family in 1993 from Manila Philippines. She loves taking photographs and had some of her work displayed at the Columbus Museum of Art as part of several Instagram Mobile Photo Hunts from 2013 until 2015. Her love of industrial, still life, antiques and vintage materials are obvious in her images.

AiNa started painting in 2016 carrying only knowledge she learned from grade school. Her current medium includes watercolor, inks, white gel pens & paints, and she wants to someday explore acrylics and tinted charcoal to include them in her work. As a child, she spent a lot of alone time reading Philippine comic books and playing with her adopted cat Minggay. Her works usually contain animals depicting human actions, dream images, favorite creatures, while others are greatly influenced by children’s books like Alice in Wonderland. Her work has muted tones, detailed with black ink.

AiNa enjoys art and films by Tim Burton, Guillermo del Torro, Hayao Miyazaki and Yuko Higuchi.

One of her favorite films and subjects to paint is Nosferatu, from a German Expressionist film from 1922.
